I had to show you this image of the land, the storm clouds + a pooch called charlie...
I hope you like him...
Charlie is a dog from the outback and he currently resides in a place called Warmun which is 200 km from Kununarra in the eastern Kimberly of Western Australia. He has two loving parents who consider him their first child and they support him by working in an artist community in Warmun... !!
At Hogarth Galleries in Paddo there is an exhibition from that community of Gija artists' that is a must for anyone like me who loves colour... The painting below is by Nancy Nodea who features in the show...
Nancy Nodea, Goodbariya, natural ochres and pigment on canvas, 120 x 120cm
This exhibition features work by established, senior artists and talented emerging artists such as Mabel Juli, Churchill Cann, Gordon Barney, Betty Carrington, Nancy Nodea, Tommy Carroll, Barry Malgil, Roberta Daylight, Rosemary Daylight, David Cox, Jane Yalunga, Anthony Yalunga, Renaid Purdie and Marietta Bray.
I just love this painting by Nancy... the colours are so beautiful and complex.... She has made some of the colours using natural pigments from that area of Australia and that is the best way to describe the colours out there...to use what nature has provided!!
The show is on until Dec 19 and I cant wait to meet mr.charlie...
I believe he is making a visit to the city soon...
