welcome winter....

Kris Coad Ceramics.
Yesterday a woolly jumper was required...
Did anyone else feel the chill in the air?
I certainly did...

I would have rugged up for the whole day but I had an appointment on the other side of town which is why the grey woolly number made its first appearance for the year!
To lesson the load of being cold, I decided to dawdle a little on the way + stop off at a few old haunts that I haven't visited for a while...

Single Origin Roasters in Surry Hills for a coffee, Tessuti fabrics on commonwealth to drool over their new Japanese textiles + then Planet furniture next door...

And boy did the place look amazing!
Ross and the team have created a new installation for the season... which included a beautiful 'table' exhibition of Kris Coad's beautiful ceramics { seen above}....
Kris is a Melbourne ceramic artist and has shown at many galleries such as Craft Vic + Dianne Tanzer Gallery in Melbourne... Her work is very quiet and unassuming, but when you get up close, each piece is beautifully crafted and thought provoking, such as this piece below called Waiting...

Kris Coad, Waiting, ceramic installation

As well as Coad's table display Planet has installed a canopy of branches to the ceiling and painted a red desert landscape on the raw brick wall, that comes together to create a beautiful interior landscape - complete with Ross' wooden furniture!

But what gets me every time I go into the store is the wall of multicoloured cushions and blankets right up the back of the store... I could stand there all day running my hands through all the layers and different textures...

So very winter!

Speaking of ceramics... The Clay Energy 2010 conference starts in Gulgong today and has many events in its busy 5 day schedule. With many international artists participating and our very own Louise Boscacci {image above} delivering an artist talk, it will be the place to be for all ceramic artists out there! If you want to know more about upcoming talks, conferences and events this year I would head to the Craft Australia website for more...

Thanks Belinda for the info...
