liquid forms....

Well...not quite!
These beautiful glass pieces may have started their lives as hot liquid but now they are beautiful, hypnotic glass sculptures and vessels by some of this countries finest artists'...
Curated by Margot Osbourne from South Australia, Mind + Matter is a touring exhibition that Object Gallery hosted for the past few months. Sadly it finished on Sunday, and for those who live far and wide, and could not come in and visit...
this is for you....
Enjoy....

These three glass wall panels are by the lovely Jess Loughlin from South Australia. They are so haunting and mesmerising that you could easily stop and stare at these for a while and get lost in their soft, shifting movements....

I had never seen the work of Masahiro Asaka before, but these two pieces of cast and cold worked glass were amazing....!
People thought they were cut crystal or shards of ice.... me included!
Love the density and suspension...
Like a moment frozen in time....

Snap....!

These two works are by Mel Douglas who has been based in Canberra for quite some time... She won the Ranamok Australian Glass prize a few years ago with this technique of glass etching on black forms.... It's hard to see from this shot, but Mel has drawn thousands of tiny lines over the exterior of each piece!
Time consuming to the extreme!
Ive always said Mel must be very very patient....
Richard Whiteley from Canberra with his cast glass forms in the foreground...

This is the piece that had everyone captivated!
It's by Gabriella Bisetto and its called The Ocean Within...
And that is what is looks like captured water with each vessel....
But it is all glass....

Love the green shimmery glow on the wall above Janice Vitkovsky's pieces....

Love the obscured image of Deb Jones on the left with her Colour Saturation piece...

And finally... one of my favourite glass artists...Janice Vitkovsky with her green 3-piece work called Oceans of Impermanence 2010...Its like bubbles, or effervescence, captured but still moving from within the glass....

It was a beautiful show and lovely to see every week...

But this Thursday its a new show, a new Sydney design event, and it all kicks off with an exhibition called Blue, co curated by Kylie Johnston + Annette Mauer... followed by the launch of Sydney Design 2010 on Friday at the Powerhouse Museum!

Bumper week... and very exciting...
