one up....one down!

Things come and things they go...
Change is all around us...
It's life... and the more we accept and gently move through these changes...
the easier, happier and more free we will be!
Well...that's my tiny tome for the day!
Why so philosophical?
Not sure...
I think its come with all the changes that are occurring now....
A new month in September, a new season in Spring,
a new moon in Virgo and a new exhibition at Gaffa !
As the brilliant brooch exhibition 'Say your Piece' opened last night to a fantastic crowd
{thank you Jess!}...
Another exhibition enters its final days ....

Blue... a group exhibition curated by Kylie Johnston + Annette Mauer for Object Gallery, closes to the public on Sunday. And as Ive loved looking at it every time I go to work, I thought Id share it with you!
Thank you to Object for letting me shoot the exhibition..
Enjoy your virtual wonder through all things Blue...

The image above is of a ceramic piece by the brilliant Gerry Wedd who I have featured on this blog before... This coil built piece is called Between the devil and the deep blue sea .... Sea of Heart Break 2010, and it has an amazing story etched on its surface...
An etching that only Gerry can!

Above and below are images of the installation of blue jewellery by the lovely Mel Young...
The two brooches on the far left are my particular favourites!! Love them....
The series is called Into the Blue 2010 and there are 20 pieces in all...!

This neck piece has so much detail! I wish I was a better photographer!!
The beading is so so fine and switches from pearl to different beads around the neck piece... is so lovely and subtle...

Miss Honor Freeman with her slip cast, hand-built porcelain bucket called... The Leaky Bucket..The Moody Blues 2010
The way she has made the pools of water under the plugs is so so clever...you would think its liquid!

The Blues 2010
A collection of silicone cast dog heads by Brenda Factor! They look like a 'Wanted' sign for Australia's most dangerous dogs, but the piece is actually about depression and experiencing the blues or The Black Dog!

In close up they are quite cute!

The wall...
Brenda Factor.... with Lucille Martin's True Blue Aussie Flag with blue thread...followed by Mel Robson and her ceramic gun piece called Shotgun II...

The piece in the foreground is again by Gerry Wedd and is called Sea Monster 2010...
NOW you can see some of his beautiful drawings that he has done by hand...

The glass artist in the show is Brendan Scott French....
This wall piece of kiln formed glass is called Futures Pass - In the Valley of Alluvia 2010... and its all about blue sky dreaming... something id like to do right now!

Love this...
These recycled book sculptures are by the amazing Melbourne-based artist Nicholas Jones and its all about Yves Klein Blue!
The work is called Seven attempts at Yves Klein Blue... and each second-hand hard cover book has been sliced, diced + folded!
Ordinarily most of these books would be destined for the recycling bin!
Shame.... as they are beautiful books....

....as you can see... here.... {including library stamp!}....

.... and here!
I love this image on the inside cover...
Such a beautiful work!

A close up of Mel's shooting gun!
I never get tired of looking at this work up close and personal...

Mel's second piece in the show is a collection of ceramic plates with decals... called... Something old something new 2010.... and its all about love!
Love letters, weddings...lovey dovey birds!
All very nostalgic!
And im in love.... with the blue plate ....!

Emma Davies with her Bower bird 2010...
Emma makes her pieces from recycled plastic that she finds in her travels such as the plastic netting used for fruit!
It all makes for a beautiful tiny bird don't you think???
Very serene...

These next images are of Emma's vine that hangs from the ceiling...

Love the similar colour blue in both Emma and Lucille's artworks!
Like minds!!

I think this is one of my favourite angles in the show...
Seeing Emma, Gerry, Brenda all together...

And to finish off our tour...
A stop at the gift shop!
{Did anyone catch that movie by Banksy called Exit through the gift shop??? I missed it!}
Anyway this is the Collect display pod at the front desk with production piece by Mel Robson, Gerry and Mel Young and it was such a great way to show how all these artists have a similar aesthetic that is quite poetic, nostalgic and lovely....
I hope you enjoyed the images and if you would like to see it all the flesh, the exhibition is on at Object till Sunday...
Otherwise have a great weekend....
and ill see all you tiny's out there next week!!
Take care...
