blue mood.

It's been a big and strange week this week...
From the wall to wall coverage of the Queensland floods on all media outlets, to the grey and moody skies that have disguised the summery days, there has been a sombre mood in the air. Funnily enough the sky is now crystal clear blue and the sun is smiling brightly.... as if nothing has happened! All the grey and heavy rain seems to have dissipated and we are now looking at the aftermath of a week that was filled with sadness and loss...
I had to peel myself away from it all and look to something else! It was all too much and Ive also had a looming deadline for a drawing commission! So I retreated to the studio these last few days..... and focused on blue!
The colour blue!
Such a beautiful colour, and yet for me, a difficult colour to work with.
It cant work alone and so it needs the help of many other colours to give it balance and warmth...
Alot like life really!

So Ive worked and worked, and after a huge day yesterday, I feel as though Ive cracked the formula and have found the right balance!
These two sketches got the ball rolling...
And even though they do not resemble the final piece...
they got me thinking, experimenting...and playing!
And that is the key....
you MUST have fun!!
