When mentioning the word 'indulgence', one may think of a sneaky chocolate purchased on the way home...a weekend spent watching back-to-back episodes of Mad Men or True Blood, or a well deserved massage at the end of a hard week!
But that is not where I head!
When I think of 'indulgence' I think of enjoying a passion that few share in...
What am I talking about??
Well - today my secret indulgence is the pleasure of pouring over images of peeling paint!
Am I mad?
Could be...
But when I'm on holiday, the majority of images taken are of beautiful patinas on old walls + doors; colourful flecks of paint, that for many, is as interesting as watching paint dry! Ha ha!!

Seriously though...'texture' for me tells a story, a history through peeling layers of colour and distressed surfaces. It's beauty and soul all wrapped up in one, like the texture on the back of ageing hand, that today is considered a stomping ground for many a plastic surgeon!

Anyway...
Last week I took a few photos of different textures around this harbour city, that I hope you may enjoy and see in a whole new light.

If you blow this image up you will see the words that are fading into the ether...
so poetic and beautiful...

green...
tiny flecks of green that are walked over each and every day...

And more green...
this time fading off an old old door in The Rocks.

Multiple texture in the most unassuming and over looked of places!

Scraping back of metal
on The Harbour Bridge.
Love the texture AND pattern in this shot...

This is my FAVOURITE SHOT!
A stairwell on the harbour bridge.
It is so poetic, old and beautiful...
The LIGHT that drops down and the
texture through the background is so lovely
that only Mr Time could create such magic!
The timing of the sun, the timing of water slowly dripping down to create such
textural marks on the wall, and the timing of me, myself and I
to come to this spot at the right moment to capture it all!

The composition, the delicate light-all just perfect!

Percect timing with the last shot!! The universe is conspiring! Texture is great isn't it? And you're right it does get overlooked in the humdrum of everydayity.. but if one looks close enough they can see such beautiful things that tell a story. Thanks for sharing! xx
