it's not easy being green...

Green....
A colour that can describe so many things...
the earth, the sea, nature...
Green with envy...
Green... and about to keel over
{especially after a big night!!}
I find it a difficult colour to work with
and yet I'm always satisfied when I have
worked it into a piece...or worn it for the day...
as it can be a very soothing and hypnotic colour...
On the island I found one artist
who had embraced it with both hands!
But it was not easy being green...
as Choi Jeong Hwa found out ...

This is his work called Hubble Bubble 2010
and it began its life at the Sydney Opera House
as a big circular bubble shape
made out of these green Korean plastic colanders...
But when the piece had 'technical difficulties'
the whole thing had to change shape and move
to a space at Cockatoo Island
which is where I found it...
all strung up!
Can't see for the green!

Loved the green glow that the work created
when the sunlight hit it...
This smoking sign is priceless too...
Should it be part of our national security?!

What is it with me and finding examples
of green and orange together???
Like a moth to a flame...

Anyway...
If your out on a limb this weekend and feel like channelling the geeky kid within you... The Comic festival called Graphic is happening at the Opera House this weekend...
I would love to see to Shaun Tan event on Saturday myself!! Ben Walsh and his 10-piece Orkestra of the Underground will perform a live score to projected images of Shaun Tan's picture book The Arrival....
Should be amazing!

I love those shots. I'm always partial to a little (or a lot) green.
