back in the saddle

Sketches in the studio - August 2011

Back in the saddle indeed. That's exactly where I was today. Back in the studio saddle, and it felt like I was starting from scratch - ground zero - and it was exciting and frustrating all at the same time. You would think that it's like riding a bike. And it is... in a way... as you remember how to hold a brush, play with a pencil, and colour a piece of paper.

But sadly... your creative brain can still be in denial that it has to wake up and get back to work again. And that is where the frustration sets in.  You then have to not give up on yourself, get comfortable, be patient and cajole, or sweet talk your creative brain and your hand, to work properly... and do SOMETHING GOOD!!!  {As you can see its been an interesting few days...!} But today.... today the sweet talking paid off, and things started to clink into gear....yay!
So here are a few images of some new drawings that are hopefully going to lead me somewhere good.
A new series? Maybe? Maybe.

 I'm loving this drawing above. It's rough, it's textual and the red is starting to pop....

And this is where I leave you.
Still in my yellow overalls and stripey white and orange top...
{mmmmm interesting...I hear you say}
but happy that things are moving in the right direction.
