the tiny diaries....

Procrastination...
Such a funny thing.
One minute you are flying, with a million ideas and a ton of energy.
And then you're stuck...
You don't know how it happened, or why??
But here you are...
Shuffling back and forth not knowing what your next move will be!

That was me two days ago as I seemed to hit a snag in my work down at the studio...
In this instance Ive always been told to step back, clear your head and relax.
And so I got out the ol'diary and surveyed some of the warm up sketches Ive done in the last few months...
Warm up sketches are the drawings or marks that you make on a page, to loosen up your hands and your thoughts before you begin your paintings or major drawings for the day. They can be done in 10 seconds or 10 minutes, but they are not to be taken seriously. Otherwise you can get lost in them for the day and never begin the real work that you need to do!
So here are some quickies...
Some tiny sketches in the ol' diary...

Tiny sketch of some little boxes on my desk...

The boats...! Just cant escape them...!
It has to be one of my favourite subjects in this harbour town....

Dreaming of Fowlers Gap, a place out near Broken Hill that I went to some 12 years ago!
Still dreaming of the land forms, the colours...

The contours... They are not quite right, and yet in a warm up sketch they don't have to be... Well, that's what I keep telling the other side of my brain...
The Virgo side that MUST be suppressed sometimes!!

My little blackbird.
