shades of grey....

It all started on Saturday.
I was going to my friends 4th birthday....
YES...my tiny friend was turning 4!
She was having a little party at her house where there was going to be glitter, purple + pink balloons, games that involved jumping up and down in the name of dancing, and of course, a fairy princess for a birthday cake! The day was deliriously hot and sunny, and for anyone in Sydney at the moment, you know that these are rare Spring days indeed!
So I was all set....
That was until the storm clouds started to arrive at noon. High noon!
Ominous and foreboding, these stormy clouds were just waiting for the party to get started!
Isn't it always the way?!
Just when Saturday adventures are about to begin, rain strikes!
That is unless you love the atmosphere and colours of a perfect storm...
Steely greys, deep purples and dusky blues and pinks...they're all there!
It was a beautiful sight and I had wished for my camera...
And then I remembered these quick sketches I did some years back...
These images are exactly how Saturdays storm began....
Well in my arty eye they did!
I love it when nature demonstrates beauty in rich + complex colour combinations.

Well... it looks as though I may have the sequel coming my way this afternoon.
Nothing like a Sydney storm to shake up a ho hum day...
Just so long as there is no cake and balloons in the equation.

The timing was impeccable, wasn't it?!
Certainly added some spice to the day!

Gorgeous post.
